The world of Myth of Empires features six major NPC factions that occupy territory, compete for control over camps, and otherwise exert their power. They are Raiders, Rebels, Yellow Turbans, Pirates, Robbers, and Vagrants. As players get stronger, so can these factions. In the early game, they can be used to acquire gold and resources; later on, they can fight alongside you against common enemies and work as your subordinates. What are the different characteristics of these factions? Let's take a look.
I: Raiders
The raiders in Myth of Empires are based on tribes who lived in mountainous regions during the Three Kingdoms period. They can generally be found around the game's mountain ranges guarding precious meteoric iron and black iron deposits. They wear heavy armor designed to maximize combat effectiveness. Lower-level members of this faction wear less armor, while its higher-level members wear thick fur, whether in the frigid snowy mountains or in the scorching desert. Don't be deceived by their cute, furry headdresses - raiders are powerful in combat and can make for particularly effective warriors when recruited.
II: Rebels
In Myth of Empires, rebels are mainly found in the northern mountains, the northern desert, and swamps. Their heavy armor is quite popular among players. They tend to wield long spears in battle, which can make taking their strongholds quite the prickly task.
III: Yellow Turbans
Based on the army of peasant rebels from history, Myth of Empires' Yellow Turbans live mostly in the southern region of the map and are frequently encountered in the late game. They wear light armor and mainly use bows. These bows are capable of unleashing punishing salvos, so it is important to be careful when attacking Yellow Turban strongholds in-game. Yellow Turbans are only average in melee combat, but they excel in logistics once recruited.
IV: Pirates
Pirates can be found all over the map in Myth of Empires, usually in strongholds and next to resource points along the game's rivers. They wear light armor and conical hats; were it not for the sabers they prominently wield, they could be mistaken for simple fishermen. Pirates are excellent in combat, and can even make for great cavalry if recruited into your personal squad.
V: Robbers
Robbers can mainly be found in the game's deserts as well as in the western snow-capped mountains. Their outfits are quite distinctive, featuring round helmets, bare chests, and open backs, which indicates that they are quite confident in their physique. They are generally skilled in combat and are also good with crossbows and two-handed weapons. Players who recruit them as warriors will find them to be powerful allies capable of dishing out lots of damage.
VI: Vagrants
Vagrants are spread all across the map and can be found almost anywhere, though they are not such an oppressive presence. Vagrants are usually neutral, and do not actively attack others; some can even be bribed for items. Sometimes, they can even be quite polite and are known to greet passersby.
Those are the six factions currently in Myth of Empires, but historically speaking, there are also many others that have yet to appear in the game. Taking the Three Kingdoms era as an example, there are the Wuhuan and the Xiongnu of the north, the Qiang of the west, and the Nanman from the south.
